Update 3/14/11
We're so excited to announce that we will be volunteering with CORA Support working with the Moving Forward Program. We are looking forward to this wonderful opportunity!
The footage from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan has pulled at our heart strings. The devastation of this disaster is a reminder how we need to be aware of our surroundings and help each other in need. We will be donating to relief efforts as this has affected us deeply.
We recently started volunteering at the Filoli Estate in Woodside, California. This lush estate is a member of the National Trust and is truly a magnificent piece of California's history. The grounds of the estate are absolutely breath taking and the amount of care and passion that goes into making the center an active part of the community is inspiring. Check them out and plan a visit to the center, you won't be disappointed.
Last November we held a ladies night in an effort to collect donations for a local domestic abuse agency. The only one in San Mateo County, of course with all the budget cuts the state of California needs to make the non profits take a serious hit. We decided to host a donation drive and collect items that can be used for their clients. We had such a great turn out for our first event, collecting tons of diapers, socks, sundries and even monetary donations. In total we collected close to $3000.00 in donation items and plan on hosting another event in October. Hopefully we'll have a larger turn out and even more donation items.
