Most Important Meal of the Day: Coffee

I have no shame, I love coffee and am proud of it. There is something about the aroma, warmth and taste that is comforting. Okay you could say I'm addicted to it and that's fine it could be worse, but that first warm cup of coffee that I start my day off with is worth looking forward to in the morning. I personally love drip coffee and highly recommend picking up a Chemex pot, it's by far one of my favorite brewing methods. Something about it really brings out the flavor and aroma of the coffee!

Below is a step by step guide to making your own pot - now I wasn't professionally trained but it's still good because it's made with love.
Chemex my favorite coffee pot ever (boil your water & get the Chemex out)

While water is boiling, dampen your coffee filter, grind beans, 2 scoops per 1-2 cups (depending on your preference)

After water boils - not so kettle is whistling, pour into filter, you want to do a small pour so it mushrooms up, wait for it to drain, pour again to the top, let it drain and pour again, each pour to the top of the filter is about a cup. Measuring is not my thing - I go by color to scoop ratio and I like my coffee medium in strength.

Let it filter in, this is about 3-4 cups of coffee here, 3 scoops and about 3 or 4 pours.  Remove your filter.....

Pour your coffee into a favorite mug.

Add your extras or if you're like my hubby, take it black....and you are ready to enjoy your very own drip coffee.
My favorite brands of coffee, not in order.

1) Blue Bottle (Chiapa's and Bella Donovan)
2) Illy
3) Jeramiah's Pick
4) Ritual Roasters
5) Dunkin' Donuts Original Blend
6) Barefoot Roasters, San Jose
7) Mr. Espresso, San Francisco
8) Intelligentsia
9) Starbucks
10) Four Barrel, San Francisco

Happy Brewing!
